SFPA needed Gatorworks to take a 100-year-old organization into the digital future with a new website design.

First founded in 1915, Southern Forest Products Association is dedicated to the advancement of the southern pine lumber industry.

The Project

SFPA is associated with several different websites including two that Gatorworks has already designed and rebuilt: Raised Floor Living Pro and American Softwoods. Now, they were looking for a new look for their flagship site. In order to rebuild this site and make it accessible for the variety of users interested in their products, Gatorworks needed to focus on the site’s vast digital resources and the most-used off-site links.

Simplified Navigation

At its core, the SFPA site is a landing site leading users to their other websites and various online resources. We were faced with the challenge of organizing their navigation into different levels based on users. First, there’s the main site content—including membership directories and product promotion. Then, the secondary navigation leads users to member resources. Finally, their sister sites needed to be accessible at all times. All these levels somehow needed to be incorporated into easy-to-use navigation. With mobile in mind, we incorporated a hamburger menu with full-screen accessibility on desktop in addition to a main navigation and search bar in the top right.

Membership Directories

Part of the benefit in belonging to SFPA is connecting with other businesses and lumber industry affiliates. This section of the website needed to clearly display all member information so other members and the public could easily find and contact them.

Summary

Southern Forest Products Association came to Gatorworks after we successfully designed and developed two other websites for them. We were happy to continue to work with SFPA to bring their flagship site up-to-date and up-to-speed.
