Our Team Welcomes a New Gator!
We’re excited to welcome Derrick to the Gatorworks team as our newest Programmatic Strategist! With years of experience in digital strategy and a passion for problem-solving, he’s ready to help businesses thrive through data-driven advertising. Let’s get to know Derrick and what makes him a great fit for our team!
Programmatic advertising involves both data-driven analysis and creative problem-solving. Which side do you enjoy more, and why?
I prefer the data-driven side, because I love to understand why exactly things work the way that they do. Understanding the nuances behind programmatic and marketing in general is like a never-ending game where I continue to find interesting tidbits as I continue my journey.
Outside of work, you enjoy gaming. If you could create an ad campaign for any game, which one would it be and why?
Attack on Titan 2: Final Battle. I picked this game because there was zero marketing done for it, and I found it out of luck, but it is one of the best games I have ever played. For AOT fans, this game is perfect for living out your dreams of becoming a scout and reclaiming glory for humanity.
Describe your perfect weekend — what are you doing?
If we are being completely honest, my perfect weekend consists of doing absolutely nothing. Playing the game with friends, cooking for the fam and just turning my brain off for a couple of days is always my favorite pastime.
Let’s talk strategy: What’s your approach when tackling a new campaign?
I like to make sure all of the necessary pieces are available before I get started with a new campaign. I like to work fast, so I have to make sure that I am working with intention and triple checking everything that I do just to give myself peace of mind. Once I have all the bones put together, I like to get another pair of eyes on it just to be safe and then it should be good to go!
You’re also a big fan of manga and anime — if you could only recommend ONE series, what would it be?
I would have to recommend Mashle: Magic and Muscles. It’s great for someone just starting out, or for the more experienced reader/watcher who wants to try something new. Very simple, no super high stakes and I found it to be pretty funny, which is new for me.
If you could design your own video game, what would it be about?
An elemental tournament battle between masters of their respective element (fire, water, ice, earth, wind, etc.) The winner is granted any one wish with no restrictions, and cut scenes/fights are dynamic. Instead of being programmed into the game, everything changed based on the choices and interactions the players make, giving it endless possibilities.
