Gatorworks is thrilled to welcome back Nick Ludwig as our new Director of Strategic Partnerships. One of the original members of the Gatorworks team, Nick returns with nearly 16 years of experience spanning digital marketing, strategy, and brand development across multiple industries. Let’s get to know more about Nick!
As one of the original Gatorworks crew members, what excites you most about returning after 16 years?
The talented team. In 2009, Gatorworks had 1/4 of the team we have today, and many of those members had to wear multiple hats. Now, with 30 team members, each with their own specialties, Gatorworks can compete with any agency in our service offerings.
From working with a Harley-Davidson group to banking, you have a wide range of industries in your career. How do those diverse experiences shape your approach to strategic partnerships today?
No matter the industry, there’s always common ground. I try to use my experiences to understand the challenges a business is facing and offer a fresh perspective by looking at things from the customers’ point of view.
One of Gatorworks’ core company values is service. You’ve balanced a demanding career while staying active in nonprofits. What causes are closest to your heart?
The Boys & Girls Club. Their mission is to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, responsible, and caring citizens. Eight years ago, my wife and I recognized a need to raise funds for the Boys & Girls Club – Covington Unit, which was in dire need of financial support to keep the club running and provide meaningful experiences like camps and field trips. In 2017, we created Oxtoberfest, a beer fest in downtown Covington, to support the Covington Boys & Girls Club. Through beer fests, beer and bites strolls, and beer dinners, we’ve raised over $100,000 for the club.

If you had to describe your approach to marketing and relationship-building in one sentence, what would it be?
I thrive on understanding any industry and the challenges involved in marketing products, services, and people.

We hear you’re a competitive soccer coach, and since the Gatorworks office is proudly obsessed with Ted Lasso (yes, there’s a portrait in our office. Thank you for asking), we have to know: what’s one lesson you have learned from your years of coaching?
Coaching has been one of the most rewarding parts of my life. Getting to coach both of my daughters and their teammates, some for nearly two-thirds of their lives, is something I’m truly grateful for. When I was younger, I never appreciated the game the way I do now, and I enjoy it so much more these days.
Your personal motto is, “You can make time for anything, right?” What’s something you always make time for, no matter how busy things get?
To do something fun with my wife and 2 girls and/or to do 1 more thing in a day, regardless of how tired we are.
