As a sales specialist, what do you feel is one of the most rewarding parts of the job?
The most rewarding part of my job is when clients see success from the work of our team. Often times, people come to us saying marketing doesn’t work or they have had really bad experiences elsewhere. But when we deliver for them and they start seeing success and refer more business to us, that makes me happy.
What would you say to a client looking to develop a digital marketing strategy?
Figure out what your business solves and who needs it, identify the pain points of the customer you are seeking, and then develop creative and engaging ways to showcase that.
How has your experience as a lifelong athlete benefited your career?
Sales is very competitive, internally and externally, much like athletics. Sometimes you compete against people on your team, and sometimes it is against other teams. It has also helped me not to get too high on the wins or too low on the losses.
Sales and athletics ebb and flow, and you just have to remember to do what you can control. Stay focused, keep your head down, and with hard work and determination, you can reach your goals.
We hear you’ve been to over 10 baseball stadiums around the country! Of all the stadiums you’ve traveled to, which has been your favorite, and where would you like to visit next?
My favorite would be kind of hard to pick. There have been lots of great stadiums and memories at each. Growing up, my dad would always try to take us to a stadium when we vacationed. So that is how it all started.
I can remember being at Coors Field and seeing a bench-clearing brawl between the two teams. I’m a Yankees fan, and my best friend is a Red Sox fan. We have been to both Fenway and Yankee stadiums together. At the Yankee Stadium game, they played Boston and won. So that was a really cool memory and experience.
I went back to Yankee Stadium after marrying my wife. We have also visited Wrigley Field and Dodger Stadium together. Those were really awesome and special experiences. The stadium I would like to see next is Busch Stadium. The St. Louis Cardinals play there, and I’ve heard it’s a really nice stadium and a baseball town.
What is the best advice you’ve ever gotten?
The best advice I ever got was, “If you work hard, good things happen.” Nobody is going to give you anything. You have to work hard for everything you get.
Word around our office is that you’re a huge fan of The Office. Who is your favorite character?
Man, that is tough. My favorite character is probably going to have to be Michael. He is the catalyst for all the craziness that happens in the office. I also really like Dwight and all the “facts” and random information he comes up with.
