A new website built for accessibility for the advancement of accessibility.

The Louisiana Developmental Disabilities Council (LADDC) is a state-level council dedicated to empowering people with developmental disabilities by promoting self-determination, inclusion, advocacy, and community participation throughout Louisiana. LADDC works to inform policy, build capacity, and support systemic change so individuals with disabilities and their families can live full, independent lives.
The Project
LADDC partnered with our team to redesign and modernize their public-facing website to better serve individuals with developmental disabilities, family members, advocates, and partner organizations. The goal was to make critical information about advocacy, meetings, resources, and council activities easier to access and understand for people of all abilities. By improving usability, accessibility, and content organization, the redesign aimed to strengthen LADDC’s digital presence as a central hub for community engagement and support.
Website Redesign
We rebuilt the LADDC website to reflect clear, user-centered design principles and inclusive navigation. The site features plain-language content that welcomes audiences of diverse literacy and ability levels, structured navigation for fast access to key areas like About Us, Advocacy Positions, News & Alerts, Resources, and Meeting Information, and responsive layouts that work seamlessly on desktop and mobile devices. The redesign also improved accessibility compatibility with assistive technologies to ensure equitable access for all visitors.
Dynamic On-Page Content
In addition to our efforts to make the new website ADA compliant, dynamic features were implemented to keep the LADDC community informed and engaged. The homepage and news sections highlight recent council news, upcoming quarterly meetings, advocacy alerts, and public comment deadlines so users can stay up-to-date with ongoing activities. Alerts about meetings, legislative opportunities, and events are managed via content modules that can be updated regularly by LADDC staff to maintain fresh, relevant engagement.

Project Summary
The completed website redesign project equips LaDDC with a modern, inclusive platform that better reflects its mission and enhances public accessibility to council information and resources. By organizing content in a way that supports discovery of advocacy actions, meeting schedules, policy positions, and community resources, the new site strengthens LaDDC’s ability to connect with stakeholders and amplify its impact. This foundational digital infrastructure supports LADDC’s long-term goals of advancing awareness, participation, and systemic advocacy in Louisiana’s disability community.
