Wearin’ of the Green is one of Baton Rouge’s biggest and most beloved parades. It is a cherished celebration that brings the entire community together in joyous festivity, looking to Gatorworks to provide a website that would be a pot of gold for their parade goers.

The Project

Wearin’ of the Green engaged Gatorworks to develop a new website aimed at providing parade attendees with real-time parade information, clear user pathways, and a one stop shop for all St. Patrick’s day festivity information and history. Streamlining the user experience so that it mirrors the excitement of the parade itself while creating natural pathways for users that are visually appealing and easy to navigate.

Interactive Route Map

One of their primary goals was to create an interactive Day of Parade information hub for parade goers with helpful points of interest. We began by reviewing the current sitemap. Gatorworks wanted to be clear and ensure to cater to the diverse needs of their target audiences, which include families, local residents, sponsors, shamrock runners, and local businesses. The user journey was designed to highlight key points of interest, such as parade route, road closures, restroom locations, businesses, and entertainment spots. Seamless integration between these sections make it easy for attendees to plan their day. Each point of interest on the interactive map is engaging, encouraging users to explore the parade route so that they can join in the festivities and fully immerse themselves in the Wearin’ of the Green parade experience.

Parade History

The Wearin’ of the Green parade, a cornerstone of Baton Rouge’s cultural heritage, required a digital experience that honors its rich history and community significance. Gatorworks undertook a comprehensive development approach, ensuring every aspect of the parade’s legacy was meticulously represented. We integrated a dynamic photo gallery to showcase iconic moments, implemented an interactive history timeline to detail the parade’s evolution, and highlighted the past parade Grand Marshal’s. User-friendly features were developed for seamless navigation through past and future events. The platform was built with scalability in mind, allowing for easy updates and additions to celebrate upcoming parades. This robust, interactive hub not only preserves the parade’s history but also enhances user engagement.

Project Summary

Creating the new website for Wearin’ of the Green was a lively journey, as we aimed to weave the spirited essence of Baton Rouge’s cherished St. Patrick’s Day parade into every click. Celebrating the parade’s rich history through dynamic galleries and timelines, we crafted a digital experience that honors tradition and fosters community excitement for years to come.
